Secret of My T4L Marathon

This is the last post (#1072) of this blog; a happy post containing the one secret of T4L success that I have never divulged, and yet, it is probably the most important ingredient of all. It is a very personal matter but I hope I have earned your indulgence for my efforts of the last 18 months.

Office for me is my study at home. From where I sit, I have CNBC (but more often than not, football) on my RHS; computer monitor directly in front; and 30 deg off on the LHS out the doorway, I look into the living room where my dear wife is. She is a full time housewife and understands absolutely nothing of the markets, but the unwavering support I get from her is what gets me through the many difficult times when markets have me "weary and bruised to the bone". Every night while I am watching the markets, she does her own thing in the living room - watching TV, reading, playing games or surfing on her Macbook, whatever. It is often a lonely existence for her, because even though I am physically just yards nearby, I am mentally miles away when I am concentrating on work.

She has one quirky habit which endears her to me no end. Every night, she sleeps in 2 stages. Stage 1 - on the living room couch in front of the TV (on) while I am still busy with the markets. A few hours later, Stage 2 - when I am done with work, I half-wake her up (very difficult!) and sleepwalk her, in full stupor, carefully and gently through the clutter of living room furniture, and into the bedroom. This is a ritual we go through every single working night, sometimes taking 5 -10 minutes to get her to bed, much like taking care of a drunken friend. (I can't carry her because she is bigger than me). And why can't she just go to bed first like everyone else? She is not able to help in my trading; "waiting up" for me is her way of showing solidarity with my cause. And I love her so much for that. It makes me want to be responsible and make sure that I can provide for her a better life. It gives me a reason to make sure T4L works.

T4L is very very tough. But I have my own secret weapon. Someone to trade well for. And I feel much loved. That's what it's really all about, isn't it?

And on that happy note, I bid thee farewell. Much enjoyed being here. Thank you + Best Wishes.

Am sorry to see you go private. Had been following this blog since beginning of the year. Respect your decision nevertheless and will take this opportunity to wish you and family well.
As in real life, there will always be detractors however well meaning your attentions are so do not let it bother you ... Good luck !

I can't believe you're going private. I much enjoyed your posts. You have been an inspiration (and I don't mean that about specific positions, but of your life choices).

A very nice, thoughtful post. I've really enjoyed reading your posts and have been following (quietly) for some time.

You bring a refreshing, balanced perspective to your work and I wish you success in T4L and just plain old L.

Really sorry about your decision to stop this public blog. Much enjoyed it and will surely miss it. Whats terrible is that there always are assholes everywhere. Open up to them and they will drive a knife at you.
Glad you are moving on. Wish you rich blessings on your private life.

Dear Master

This is the first (and the last ?)time posting a comment here. The negative comments are just outliers, it happens all the time but pls don't let them make you down!
My friends and I are your fans but we seldom post here because of our poor English writing . We learned a lot from you not only the trading skills , but also your generous and open-minded personality ,which I believe it's also the key of your sucessful trading.
We really hope you can continue your blog , but no matter what your decision is , thank you & best wishes.

Taichiseal - It is very disappointing to see you go - you brought an abundance of clarity to the trading community - it's sad that any one individual can cause such grief - but to put things into perspective for yourself and understanding your priorities are very important - I wish you and the family all the best on your path - good luck and hope to have you back some day - SZ

I am touched by all your comments and nice words. You don't have to look too hard to know that I am still around in the blogosphere, although a much reduced presence.

Last words of advice to the young ones - no matter how much success you achieve in trading - please remain humble always.

I respect your decision but I feel sad to see you go private. I truly enjoy following your posts. I have not come across any other trend follower like you. Don’t hesitate to keep in touch. And if you ever drop by Vegas, I am more than happy to accommodate you. Good knowing you Taichiseal.

P.s. What I find in your post is simply that “one has to expect the unexpected.” Obviously, those commentators are unwilling to consider the effects of luck. No one is smart enough to control luck. There is only one way to make money in trading and that is by managing ones exposure to the consequences of luck(both positive and negative). Some people exhibit funny reactions to such a truth.

You are very sincere. You have contributed to the community. Ignore those guys, they are ignorant. I hope you can share with us in other ways soon.

Most of what I wanted to express has been posted. Most important of all, your blog has enlightened most of us in many directions. Please consider a re-start once recharged. Miss you a lot!!

I hope your decision to break is not driven by those ignorant comments .. thoses noises are everywhere in every society, and one has to be content with one's achievement even if only made the slightest difference to just one other person.

Well done! And I'm sure your wife loves you back for it!

Thanks for your blog, you've been an inspiration to me, even if I don't agree to all your techniques, but it's been educational nevertheless.

The world is sadly full of ugly people, but as long as the one whom you love is lovingly watching over you, all is good in your own little world!

God speed, my friend.

Thank you for all you've shared. As others have mentioned, I think it is the honesty and openness of your writing, and the simplicity of your 'system', that lead me to follow your blog for the past 18 months.

I wish you every success in trading and the more important parts of life - though it sounds like you're not doing too bad!

At least I'll have a bit more time now to work my way through your reading list...

Au revoir,
Tim

Been following your work only a few months, but enjoyed your honest insight. Hope you gained more from sharing, and from healthy feedback, than you lost from responding to nonsense.

Best wishes as you move forward

TS,

Am actually rather sad with your decision to stop writing. I have enjoyed and gotten quite used to checking your site and following your thoughts on the markets and charts.
But I can understand why you made the decision to stop.

Thanks for sharing this last post. I believe this is your best post yet.

Once again, thanks for the generous sharing of your experience and insights all this while.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones.

Have been a follower of your blog and have learnt a lot from it, a big thank you to you.
I was very moved when I read the story about your wife. I am a female trader who has been doing this for only 2 years, and I can only wish that my husband would be only half as supportive and understanding as your wife. You are a lucky guy!.
